KNOXVILLE, IOWA (April 16, 2005)  -  History was made today as five Australian 360-cubic-inch sprint car racers have officially been invited to compete in the seventh Brodix Tournament of Champions, August 7, at the legendary Knoxville Raceway in Iowa.  The five drivers, led by Victorian hotshoes Brett Milburn and Stephen Bell, received the invitations after completing the seven-race Sprintcar Control Council of Australia (SCCA) qualifying series at Jeff Drew’s Avalon Raceway in Geelong, Victoria, and Premier Speedway’s Sungold Stadium in Warrnambool, Victoria.  The seven events, including the two compulsory rounds of the Knoxville-Avalon-Premier (KAP) mini-series, took place under the coordination of Jeff Drew of Avalon, Rob Harris of Premier, Ian Vale of the Sprintcar Racing Association (SRA) of Victoria, and Jon Evans of Oval Express.

Besides Milburn (269 points) and Bell (260 points), the other official invitees are Philip Down (230 points), Bill Fraser (221 points), and Ian Smith (218 points).  Milburn, a former mini-sprint and dirt modified driver, wheeled the TruePower Electrical/ Dromana Mowers/Bayside Trenching & Boring J&J sprint car to three high-point finishes in the seven races, compared to four for Bell.  Stephen drove the Precision Race Components (PRC) Eagle sprinter, which was additionally sponsored by Gillear Lime, PM Race Engines, and PWR Radiators.  In order to compete at Knoxville in early August, all five drivers must now secure American rides and officially enter the tourney by July 26.  Entry forms are available on-line at www.knoxvilleraceway.com.

The 2005 Cox Design and Metal Fabrication Southern Iowa SprintWeek will consist of ten straight nights of racing between Knoxville Raceway and the Southern Iowa Fairgrounds Speedway in nearby Oskaloosa.  Knoxville Raceway’s August 4-5 Speed-televised $10,000-to-win Knoxville 360 Nationals, August 6 $2,500-to-win Casey’s General Stores Night (including 410’s), and the August 7 $5,000-to-win Brodix Tournament of Champions will offer four straight nights of winged 360 racing before the action heads over to Oskaloosa for the August 8-9 events.  The week concludes back at Knoxville for the 410 Nationals on August 10-13.  The Brodix Tournament of Champions is an invitational and will feature the best cars and stars of twenty-one (21) different sanctions in the United States, Canada and Australia.
