When the Southern Ontario Sprints gathered at Humberstone Speedway Sunday evening, few people knew much about Campbellville, Ontario rookie Kevin Job. When the checker flag flew at the completion of the twenty lap feature event for the evening, Job had etched his name in the record book capturing his first SOS main event in only his fifth try.

With preliminary events out of the way, Tim Zack and Jim Davies lined up on the front row pacing the field to start the event. Davies would out duel Zack to lead laps one through six. Job moved into second by lap three and patiently stalked Davies until lap seven when he took the lead away while lapping traffic. The only caution of the event appeared on lap fifteen when third place running John Riegling making his one hundredth SOS start, looped his mount in turn three.

With the race restarted, Davies held on for second with rookie Joe Middlemiss in third. Mike Lauterborn and Bob Crawford completed the top five. 

Heat races were won by Jim Davies, Joe Middlemiss, Tom Huppunen and Glenn Styres while Brad Malloy claimed the “B” Main.

Next up will be a return trip to Brighton Speedway , July 8th .
