Joe Middlemiss collected his first sprint car feature win of his career Saturday night during the Southern Ontario Sprints third visit to the Brighton Speedway in 2007. The hard fought victory came over local favourite Rick Wilson who until Saturday night had been the only winner on the SOS 2007 tour. 

Daryl Turford grabbed the initial lead and showed the way for the first five laps before Rick Wilson stormed by on the sixth circuit. Wilson’s lead was short lived as he slipped high in turn one allowing Kevin Job to gain the point on lap seven with Middlemiss and Keith Dempster tagged on the back of the Kevin Job mount. 

With Wilson recovering to settle into the fifth position, all eyes were on the local favourite as he began to charge back to the front. At the half way point, Middlemiss slipped under Job as the pair moved down the backstretch and took command while Wilson moved into third. Wilson gained the runner up spot on lap fifteen and the battle for the win was staged.
The final four laps saw Wilson try several times to overtake the determined Middlemiss but when the checker flag fell, Joe Middlemiss had etched his name in the SOS record books as a feature winner. Rick Wilson settled for second with Glenn Styres, Kevin Job, and Warren Mahoney completing the top five. Keith Dempster, Joel Lehman, Bob Crawford, Mark Swain, and Bob McDonald completed the top ten.

Several caution slowed the pace with the machines of Adam West, Jamie Collard, and Bill Baldwin all requiring assistance to exit the speedway.

Heat races were won by April WILSON, Kevin JOB and Dick MAHONEY. 

Next up the series returns to South Buxton Speedway for a pair of shows with the first on July 14th before their final appearance of 2007 on Aug. 4th.
