The final round of the Can Am Challenge between the Sprints on Dirt (SOD) and the Southern Ontario Sprints (SOS) was staged Friday, August 26th at Ohsweken Speedway. Kyle Patrick of Tilbury, Ontario was the winner of round one at South Buxton Speedway back in June and with his third place finish at Ohsweken becomes the 2005 Can Am Challenge winner. Patrick was a regular with the SOS up until this season and was the SOS Rookie of the Year in 2003. This season he has been running with the Michigan-based SOD club and is currently 4th in the point’s race. This is the second year in a row that a SOD driver has been declared the winner of the Can Am Challenge as the winner last year was the defending SOD Point’s Champion, Dustin
Daggett.

“Village
Pizza Ohsweken Shootout”
The SOD race
at Ohsweken was also the final qualifier for the “Village
Pizza Ohsweken Shootout”. This ten lap
affair will see three drivers from each of the Southern Ontario
Sprints, Sprints on Dirt, Empire Super Sprints and the Patriot
Sprint Group go head-to-head for the $500 top prize.
The “Village Pizza Ohsweken Shootout” race will be
run on the Friday night before the Canadian Sprint Car Nationals
and the starting field for this event will include the following
