We
are pleased to announce that the 2003 Southern Ontario
Sprints, Rookie of the Year sensation Kyle Patrick of Tilbury,
Ontario, has been nominated for the prestigious National
Sprint Car Poll for 360 Rookie of the Year Award. This
significant award is presented to the rookie sprint car driver
across North America in the 360 category, whose
accomplishments were outstanding.
Patrick’s performance this year, both on and off the track
was superb, especially for a seventeen year-old.
He
finished his first season behind the wheel of the 600 HP
sprinter in 3rd place and captured the SOS Rookie
of the Year title. Along the way, Patrick had 5 top
fives and 14 top tens in the 17-race schedule. He also
won 5 heat races and a Dash for Cash race and in the last 7
events; he finished in 3rd place four times.
Prior to joining the SOS, Patrick competed in the Micro Sprint
division. The entire Patrick family has been very
supportive of Kyle and will no doubt be proud of his
nomination.
The SOS is very please to have Patrick nominated for this
national award. In the past four years, the SOS Rookie
of the Year has been nominated three times. In the year
2000, Keith Dempster of Alton, Ontario was nominated and then
last year, Billy Krull of Wheatfield, New York was nominated
and was the co-winner of the National Sprint Car Rookie Award.
The SOS is always very proud of their rookies and the talent
they have shown. Receiving national recognition is a
very special honour indeed but comes as no surprise when you
have the caliber of drivers who compete with the SOS club.
