SOS Q&A with: Kyle Patrick

1. On a scale of 1 to 10 (ten being best) how would you rate your 2004 season with the SOS?
I would rate it at a 6, because it was not as rewarding as last year. It is hard to top a great year like we had in 2003.  We had alot of wins and good runs this year, but when all the dust settles, it was a little bit of an empty feeling.
2. You missed one SOS event this season that seemed to affect your points outcome.  Did you have fun that night at the prom?

Prom was fun and although I lost points with the SOS, I gained more brownie points with my girlfriend which at the end of the year, are not worth as much.  Although I was unable to attend, my crew chief and Dad still attended the race that night with John Riegling and they were able to pull through a win.  All in all, I guess we all ended up in the victory circle!

3. What was it like to capture your first ever 360 sprint car win?
On the Friday of that weekend we raced at Oshweken and I said "we aren't going home until we win a feature".  Good thing that we were able to come home after the feature win in Brighton otherwise I might not be at home to answer these questions for you.
4. Who has helped you the most to get to where you are now in your racing career?
My dad, my crew (the guy with the mullet who shows up every race to help me..even with the "sexy hair", we could not do it without him) and of course the sponsors who are always there to help financially.  The learning experience that I had with Barry Ruble, an All Star competitor provided me with some great knowledge.  Barry competed in New Mexico and Texas in some All Star events and an World of Outlaw event.
5. What are your plans for the 2005 season?  How many SOS events do you intend on running?
We plan on doing what is best for our team and our team's future in sprint car racing.  We plan on hitting as many big publicity races as possible.  This includes the Canadian Nationals, All Star events, the Winter Nationals in Florida, Brodix Tournament of Champions and 360 Nationals.  As time and availability permits we will hit as many SOS events as possible.
6. What is in store for your ride in 2005?
Two new 2005 Eagle Chassis', motor by Hampshire Racing Engines.  Colour scheme........white/orange and Hooters.................stickers that is.
7. Where do you see yourself as a driver in the next 5 years?
I hope that I can be doing what I love to do and getting paid well to do it.
8. Of all the tracks you have competed on which is your favourite and why?
I love short, tight tracks.  We get around Attica and Fremont well, but have better luck at Brighton.
9. What are you looking forward to the most in the 2005 season?
I want to be the "Bride" and not the bridesmaid....in other words, get some more bridesmaids...whoops, I mean wins.
10. Have you enjoyed your experience thus far running with the SOS?
It has been a great learning experience and the relationships that we have developed will last a lifetime.  We had an unbelievable amount of fun and hope that will continue.  I feel the last two years have been very advantageous and will be happy to return to an SOS event at any time.
